Export checklist
A repeatable checklist so every export is final - correct settings, correct loudness, no surprises.
Confirm the delivery spec
Know exactly what the destination needs - codec, container, resolution, frame rate, and audio loudness. Write it down before you touch the export settings.
Check the sequence settings
Make sure your timeline resolution, frame rate, and aspect ratio match the intended deliverable. A 1080p timeline exporting at the wrong frame rate is a silent, costly mistake.
Verify audio loudness and levels
Confirm dialogue is intelligible, nothing clips, and loudness meets the target before exporting. Render a check if you changed any audio since the last watch.
Choose the right codec and bitrate
Pick H.264/HEVC for web, ProRes or DNx for masters, and set a bitrate appropriate to the resolution and platform. Do not max out bitrate for no reason - it costs size without helping.
Render a small test segment
Export a short portion first and play it back in a separate player. This catches color shifts, missing audio, and codec problems before you commit to a long render.
Full render, then verify
Run the final export and verify it when done - open it, check the first and last frames, confirm runtime, and validate it against the delivery spec. Then archive the project and master.
